Vessels with a transport capacity included between 36,000 and 40,000 dwt. With their slightly smaller size compared to Medium Range vessels, they are suitable for trade on brief routes with numerous port moorings, as they allow rationalization of usage and economic savings as regards port costs. These vessels generally operate in the Mediterranean Sea, in the Black Sea, in the Baltic Sea and are also suitable for commercial trade in the Caribbean Sea.
Vessels with a transport capacity included between 45,000 and 51,000 dwt. The Medium Range segment is the largest of the Product Tankers’ panorama. These types of vessels are also known as the sector’s “strong point”, being the most flexible in dimensions, as well as representing the standard for commercial cargo. These vessels operate at global level.
New building vessels, actually under construction, with a transport capacity of 75,000 dwt. With the recent expansion in refineries in the areas of the Arabic Gulf and in India, both far away from the areas where there is usually the greatest consumption of refined petroleum products, a long-range type of naval transport was necessary which could allow low transport costs for single units despite the growing distance in transport. This type of vessels also operates at a global level.
